New Blackburn Rovers boss Paul Ince is looking to add experienced coach Archie Knox to his backroom staff at Ewood Park.
The newly-installed Rovers chief is keen to surround himself with experience and has already brought veteran number two Ray Mathias with him from former club MK Dons.
But Ince is also keen to renew acquaintances with Knox, who he worked with during his time as a player at Manchester United.
The 61-year-old Scot is currently without a club after leaving Bolton Wanderers following Gary Megson's arrival as manager midway through the last campaign.
He had been the caretaker-manager at the Reebok Stadium for two games following the sacking of Sammy Lee and has spent time as the number two to the likes of Sir Alex Ferguson and Walter Smith.
"He (Knox) is certainly someone who Paul is considering joining the coaching staff, but it is not a done deal by any means," revealed Rovers chairman John Williams.
