Ince hails Robinson display
21 Sep 2008 - 11:06:42
Blackburn Rovers boss Paul Ince was full of praise for goalkeeper Paul Robinson following his side's 1-0 victory over Fulham at Ewood Park.
Former Spurs and England number one Robinson made two outstanding saves to deny Cottagers striker Andy Johnson, having conceded eight goals in his last two outings.
Ince commented: "I said when I bought Paul Robinson he was the best keeper in the league and he proved that with two great saves. Andy Johnson had a chance and Paul pulled off an unbelievable save.
"I've felt sorry for Paul over the last two weeks because he's conceded eight goals, but none of them have been down to him.
"Because of where he's come from and where he's at with England, people will always look at Paul conceding goals. But here you saw what a world-class keeper he is."
Ince also admitted that his decision to throw on three second-half substitutes had paid off, with one of them, Matt Derbyshire, netting the winning goal six minutes from time.
"I think the substitutes came at the right time," Ince added. "The crowd needed something to lift them and they got behind us and were fantastic.
"It could easily have been different and if they had scored with ten minutes to go they could have won."
