Ince calls for keeper recall

Blackburn Rovers boss Paul Ince believes the form of goalkeeper Paul Robinson should lead to an England recall.

The £3.5million summer signing from Tottenham has been tipped for a place in Fabio Capello's squad for next week's friendly against Germany after a string of impressive performances for the Ewood Park club.

Robinson has seen David James reclaim the England number one jersey under Capello's reign and has not always been included in the Italian coach's World Cup qualifying squads.

But Ince believes the 29-year-old's current form warrants another chance at international level.

"It's a friendly game so why not?" he told the club's official website.

"I know David James has got the shirt at the moment, but I just think that since Robbo has come into the club, he has been absolutely outstanding.

"You saw that again on Sunday (2-0 defeat to Chelsea) and as far as I'm concerned, I think he is the best goalkeeper in the league.

"I still think he can get better. He had a lack of confidence at Tottenham due to not playing and he wanted a fresh start.

"He's got his head screwed on, he's really focused on his job and you can see that in his performances."
