Blackburn Rovers boss Mark Hughes says he is reluctant to sanction any exits from the club, despite interest in unsettled duo Robbie Savage and Jason Roberts.
Both players are rumoured targets for Sunderland, with a number of other top-flight clubs also thought to be monitoring the situation.
However, Hughes told reporters: "A number of clubs have enquired about his situation and the situation is Robbie's contracted to Blackburn Rovers.
"He's not particularly happy at the moment because he's not an automatic choice in the team, but that's the same for the vast majority of the players in my squad.
"So at the moment he's not in the team, but he's very much a valued member of the squad and if I feel he's the right player for a certain game then he will play.
"I don't allow players to leave if I feel it will weaken us or I'm not able to bring people in that will strengthen us.
"The situation with any of my players is that they're not allowed to leave unless I think Blackburn Rovers will progress as a club."
