Hughes seeks Roberts stay

Blackburn manager Mark Hughes has dismissed speculation linking Rovers striker Jason Roberts with a summer move to SPL champions Celtic. The 29-year-old forward has suffered with injury problems in his first season at Ewood Park, but has returned to full fitness in recent weeks and has scored five goals in his last five games. Hughes told The Sun: "Jason is a big part of my plans. He's had a frustrating year, but I bet he doesn't want the season to end. "He's looking fit and a real handful for opposition defenders." Meanwhile, Hughes has confirmed that he has also hopeful of tying up a permanent deal for on-loan AS Roma striker Shabani Nonda, who has netted eight times in 35 outings for Rovers. "We'd like to get him here permanently," Hughes added. "He's one of those players I feel will come through a lot stronger next year."
