Blackburn Rovers boss Mark Hughes remains hopeful contract rebel Lucas Neill will remain at Ewood Park.
The Australia international netted the winner in Wednesday's 1-0 UEFA Cup victory over Nancy - which secured top spot in Group E - and Hughes hopes the promise of progress in Europe will keep the Rovers skipper at the club.
Neill is out of contract in the summer and has been linked with cut-price moves to Liverpool and Barcelona in the January transfer window.
"I am still hopeful Lucas will be here for the next stage," claimed Hughes.
"We have to wait and see what happens and what might be in the club's best interests.
"If it happens I will still shake his hand and thank him for the service he has given. People should remember what he has done for this club."
