Blackburn manager Mark Hughes could return to international football in the future, but for the moment is content to commit himself to Rovers by penning a new two-and-a-half-year contract with the club.
The former Wales coach had been linked with England's vacant managerial post, but will not be succeeding Steve McClaren after agreeing an improved deal which will keep him at Ewood Park until June 2010, with the option of a 12-month rolling agreement after that.
The former Manchester United, Barcelona and Chelsea striker said: "At some point in my career I'd like to try international management again - possibly when I'm older and greyer than I already am - but I'm not anticipating getting a call from the FA.
"I'm delighted (with the new deal). We've been talking for a matter of weeks and we've been able to agree on the terms of the contract. I feel there's more work to do here.
"First and foremost my job is to get results and I feel I've done that and the club itself has moved forward as well.
"I'm excited with what's ahead of us and there's more to come from this squad of players."
Chairman John Williams added on the club's official website: "The club has made significant progress during Mark's tenure and we're delighted that he's signed this new contract.
"It's very good news. Mark's done - and continues to do - a great job and we're very confident in his ability to drive the club forward."
