Hughes hails rusty Rovers

Blackburn Rovers manager Mark Hughes admitted his side looked rusty in Sunday's InterToto Cup success against Lithuanian side FK Vetra. Benni McCarthy and Matt Derbyshire netted as Rovers secured a 2-0 win, but the victory was not without several alarms. Hughes said after the game: "We're happy with the result. It was a good win for us. "We're very early in our preparation and I think at times that showed, but we're grateful that we've been able to not concede any goals and win the game 2-0. "I did try and say before the game that we felt it would be a difficult game, because of the different stages of preparation that both teams had. "They will all be better for the game and I'm sure our performance will improve as a consequence." The two teams play the return leg at Ewood Park on Saturday with Rovers overwhelming favourites to reach the qualifying stage of the UEFA Cup.
