Hoilett hungry for more Rovers starts

The 19-year-old Canadian, who has been with Rovers since he was 13 but only acquired a work permit this summer, has come off the bench three times in the Premier League. On his only start, in the Carling Cup, he scored in the 3-1 win at Gillingham and is likely to be given another run out in the third round tie at Nottingham Forest on Tuesday night as Sam Allardyce brings in a number of fringe players. After two seasons on loan in Germany, Hoilett is enjoying working under Allardyce. "The manager believes in the players, gives us confidence and wants to improve us," he said. "He brings me in and shows me video clips of what I've been doing well and what I need to improve on. "Hopefully this season I will get as many games as possible. I just want to keep improving and developing as a player. "The staff and players have given me confidence and I've been working hard to get more goals. "My goal is to play from the start. When you come on as a substitute you have to work harder and just do your best. "But if I can get games in the Carling Cup, learn, get more experience I can impress the manager and try to get a start in the Premier League." Hoilett, a second half substitute in Sunday's 3-0 defeat at Everton, admitted the players were determined to get over that performance as soon as possible. "Everyone has their heads down after the Everton defeat but we have to get ready for the Forest game and bounce back," he added. "It was a shocking performance. The coaching staff have made us watch the video and pointed out our mistakes. "I expect a tough game. They will be ready for us so we have to keep focused and give it 100%. "Away from home we have to go and get the basics right and work hard as a unit."
