Blackburn Rovers' veteran goalkeeper Brad Friedel has signed a new one-year contract extension to keep him at Ewood Park until the summer of 2009. The 35-year-old former USA international joined Rovers in November 2000 from Liverpool and has gone on to become one of the most reliable keepers in the Premiership. He told the club's official website: "I am delighted and it was an easy situation. "I love being here and the fact that the club want me to stay on a little longer is great. "Rovers showed great faith in me when I wasn't playing first-team football at Liverpool and I remember things like that. "This has proved a tremendous move for me and I want to repay the club by giving of my services for as long as I can." Friedel, who won 82 caps for his country before calling time on his international career, has made just over 300 appearances for Rovers to date.
