    Friedel looking to continue

    08 Apr 2008 - 11:06:26

Veteran Blackburn Rovers goalkeeper Brad Friedel has revealed he could play on after his existing contract expires in another two years.

The 36-year-old American has recently put pen to paper on a new two-year deal which will keep him at Ewood Park until the end of the 2009/10 campaign.

Friedel will be 39 when that deal expires but the former Liverpool and Columbus Crew shot-stopper is keen to continue if his body stands up to the rigours of top-flight football.

"I have signed a new two-year contract and it will expire when I am 39," he revealed.

"If I am feeling this well then I would be glad to carry on as I love football very much and want to play as long as possible.

"Sometimes you need to be a little bit lucky, but getting ready for games is just about training. In it I do a lot of stretching exercises, plus I have good experience with yoga.

"I try to use the services of various physios, massages and so on.

"I try to be prepared the best as possible for each game, but I would not say I am different from other players."
