    Emerton blow for Rovers

    08 Dec 2006 - 08:35:16

Blackburn Rovers boss Mark Hughes has blamed a lack of rest after losing key midfielder Brett Emerton until the New Year.

Frustrated Hughes has seen the Ewood Park squad decimated by injury this season after losing Steven Reid, Robbie Savage, Ryan Nelsen, Zurab Khizanishvili and Jason Roberts for significant periods.

And now Emerton, who played in the World Cup for Australia, is poised for a spell on the sidelines after suffering a hamstring injury.

"We've lost Brett Emerton again to a hamstring, I think that is a consequence to the summer that he's had with his World Cup involvement," claimed Hughes.

"It looks as if it is the same injury that he suffered earlier in the season.

"I hope, though, it's not too severe - and we can get him back in a couple of weeks."
