Derbyshire seals Greek move

Striker Matt Derbyshire has completed his transfer from Blackburn Rovers to Greek side Olympiacos.

The 23-year-old frontman has agreed a four-year contract with the Greek champions after spending the second half of the last campaign on loan in Athens.

The former England Under-21 international scored eight goals in 11 appearances to help Olympiacos win a league and cup double.

He was allowed to move on for a fee in the region of £2.5million after slipping down the pecking order following Sam Allardyce's arrival as manager in December.

"I'm very happy with this transfer. I wanted to stay at Olympiacos," said Derbyshire. "I hope to improve myself and become much better next season.

"I'm looking forward to going to Austria for pre-season, it's a fantastic feeling for me.

"I'll try my best to help Olympiacos. With hard work I hope to succeed."
