Blackburn Rovers striker Matt Derbyshire is hoping to be a regular starter for the Ewood Park club this season, despite facing stiff competition for a place.
The 21-year-old England Under-21 international found the net ten times last season, despite not being a regular starter for Mark Hughes' side.
The summer arrival of Dutchman Maceo Rigters has added to Derbyshire's problems, but he is determined to make his mark.
He told the Lancashire Telegraph: "People may doubt me and that's fair enough, but all I can do is show them what I can do.
"To do that, I have to score goals. And to score goals I have to play games. If I don't play I can't do anything. I just hope to get the games to answer a few people.
"We've got the new signings in and getting back the injured players, they are like new signings. We've got a great squad and we should be aiming for the top ten or even higher.
"Competition is going to be stronger than ever and I just hope to play as much as I can."
