Dann calls for 'big performances'

Defender Scott Dann believes Blackburn's remaining six games carry the significance of 'World Cup finals' as they bid to achieve Barclays Premier League survival.

Rovers will be aiming to halt a run of three successive defeats when they entertain Liverpool on Tuesday, a sequence which has pushed them back into the bottom three.

"Every game between now and the end of the season is a World Cup final for us and we've got to put in some big performances and get some points as early as possible," Dann said.

Dann, who was relegated with Birmingham last season, believes Rovers need to win their remaining three home games against the Reds, Wigan and Norwich to stand a chance of staying up.

Dann said: "Relegation battles always go to the wire and with the lads we've got in the dressing room, we know we are capable of getting ourselves out of it."

Blackburn boss Steve Kean is hoping Liverpool will have one eye on their FA Cup semi-final on Saturday.

Liverpool have won only one of their last eight league games and Kean is hoping their focus is already starting to turn to the semi-final with Everton at Wembley.

"There is no reason why we can't go out and beat Liverpool. We've done it before last year. We played very well," he said. "It will be difficult for them not to think about the semi-final, so we will try to use that to our advantage."

Blackburn will be without suspended on-loan striker Anthony Modeste who will have to serve a three-match ban after his red card for violent conduct against West Brom.

Kean will check on the fitness of defender Martin Olsson who suffered a shoulder injury at the Hawthorns, although he was able to complete the game.
