Chimbonda set for Blackburn

Blackburn Rovers are reported to be closing in on the signing of Pascal Chimbonda from Tottenham Hotspur. Chimbonda, 30, is poised to return to the north-west where he spent one season at Wigan Athletic. The French full-back moved on to Spurs in 2006 before leaving for an ill-fated sixth-month spell with Sunderland last summer. Chimbonda returned to Spurs in January but has fallen down the pecking order in recent months behind the likes of Vedran Corluka, Alan Hutton and new signing Kyle Naughton. "We're in the process of sorting things out," revealed agent Willie McKay. "Pascal is travelling up to Blackburn and will hopefully undergo a medical tomorrow (Thursday) if everything is agreed." Meanwhile, Rovers full-back Stephen Warnock is set to join Aston Villa in a deal worth a reported £6million.
