Chimbonda on verge of move

French full-back Pascal Chimbonda is "very close" to joining Blackburn Rovers, according to Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp. Chimbonda was supposed to be part of the Spurs side which faced Doncaster Rovers in the Carling Cup on Tuesday night. But after travellling north with Spurs, the former Wigan Athletic and Sunderland defender was allowed to head on to Blackburn for talks over a £2million switch to Ewood Park. When asked why he had only named six substitutes on the bench for the 5-1 win over the Championship club, Redknapp revealed: "Well I sold one on the way up here, we sold Chimbonda. "Well I think he was sold, he came up on the plane then he travelled across to Blackburn I think. "The chairman agreed a fee with Blackburn for him so he travelled over there. "I don't know if the deal has been done but certainly it's very close to being done so we ended up one short but it's not a problem."
