Match Preview

With the title race hotting up, Sir Alex Ferguson's Manchester United travel to Ewood Park looking to keep pace with leaders Chelsea.

However, with a massive midweek European game against Bayern Munich and a potential hangover from last weekend's defeat against the Blues, United will need to dig deep as they will be facing one of the top division's in-form sides on home soil.

Blackburn Rovers, who currently find themselves basking in mid-table security, have lost just three of their last 12 league games, while at home, they have suffered just one defeat in 15.

Indeed, Allardyce's well-drilled side have now taken a highly-impressive 16 points out of a possible 18 in their last six games at Ewood.

On other hand, the Old Trafford giants have won six and drawn one of their last seven top-flight clashes with the Ewood Park side.

One United player who has particularly enjoyed his meetings with Rovers is the currently injured Wayne Rooney. The striker has scored in each of his least three league games against Blackburn, although he is set to miss this clash.

Wes Brown also remains a major injury doubt although John O'Shea is back in action. Michael Owen, Anderson and Danny Welbeck remain long-term casualties, however forgotten man Owen Hargreaves is now very close to a comeback.

Blackburn will hope that a knock suffered by the returning Vince Grella in a midweek reserve match won't be enough to keep him out of Sunday's game.

Captain Ryan Nelsen also made his comeback in that second string game with Manchester City along with Yildiray Basturk. However, Irish midfielder Keith Andrews remains a major doubt as is Lars Jacobsen.

One Rovers' player who is fit and ready to play is striker Jason Roberts, who is confident his side can perform well in their last three home games, against United, Everton and Arsenal.
