Big Sam hails win

Blackburn boss Sam Allardyce was delighted with his side's performance as they comfortably beat Wolves. Rovers claimed their opening win of the season as they won 3-1 at Ewood Park. El Hadji Diouf gave them a first-half lead and they quickly added to that in the second half when Jason Roberts and David Dunn scored. Stefan Maierhofer added a late consolation for Wolves, but that did not detract from the display by Rovers. "I am delighted with the performance and the performance has brought us what we deserved, we should have had a win or two on the board already," he told Sky Sports. "The performances have deserved that, but we haven't got what we deserved but today we got everything we deserved and quite comfortably in the end. "We could have been two or three up by half-time and I said let's concentrate and we had to soak up a little pressure and make sure we defended properly. "It was a great day all around for us, everything clicked into place and we got what we deserved with the win. "We have been very poor on our taking of chances this season but I have always said that the good thing is that we are creating them, but this time we have done the job and seen the opposition off. "Every player has performed well, plus the subs - it was great to see Brett Emerton coming back and also we were able to give Michel Salgado ten minutes at the end. "Today we have shown that we can finish and we want to build on what we have done today." Allardyce also expressed his relief that the transfer window was closed. "I am happy the window has shut, because I was getting fed up with it," he continued. "It is a pain in the neck and drives you potty and so I am happy it is shut and out of the way and the focus is on the players at the football club now and not about the rumours. "It is shut and the lads are getting on well together, and that will continue to grow."
