Blackburn Rovers midfielder David Bentley is keen to remain at Ewood Park despite transfer speculation linking him with a move to Manchester United.
The former Arsenal youngster has been linked with a switch to Old Trafford after a string of impressive performances this season, but Bentley's agent Robert Segal insists his client is happy at Blackburn and talks are progressing over a new contract.
Bentley has been touted for a possible inclusion in Steve McClaren's next England squad after netting five goals from midfield this term.
"David is happy at Blackburn and I believe the deal could be a one-year extension to his contract," said Segal.
"I think there is a willingness from both sides to reach an agreement.
"Blackburn said they would reward him with a new contract if he did well and they are now doing what they promised they would."
