Blackburn Rovers midfielder David Bentley has agreed a new contract that will keep him at Ewood Park until June 2011 after enjoying a magnificent season with Mark Hughes' side.
The 22-year-old former Arsenal trainee has only missed one first-team game this term and found the net six times.
"David has really blossomed this season to produce a consistently high level of performance," Hughes told the club's official website.
"He's a great talent with a big future and we're delighted to have signed him up for the long term."
Chairman John Williams added: "David is widely regarded as one of the best young footballers in the country and this represents a very significant deal for the club, underpinning our determination to continue to move forward with ambition."
Bentley made only one Premiership appearance for the Gunners before moving to Ewood Park, initially on loan, 18 months ago.
He has made 56 Premiership appearances for Rovers, with the highlight of his time at the club coming last season when he grabbed a hat-trick in the 4-3 win against Manchester United.
