    Allardyce to miss Cup clash

    30 Nov 2009 - 14:40:50

Blackburn Rovers boss Sam Allardyce is not expected to return to work before Wednesday's Carling Cup quarter-final against Chelsea.

The former Bolton Wanderers manager returned home from hospital on Saturday following Friday's angioplasty, but the midweek Cup clash could come just too soon for him.

Neil McDonald is once again expected to take charge of the Rovers team for the game, a role he has taken for the recent matches against Bolton Wanderers, Fulham and Stoke City.

Midfielder Brett Emerton said: "He's been in the game for a long time now, he's very experienced and he knows what needs to be done to win football matches.

"Like I say, it will be great to have him back with us and making the right decisions for us.

"The other staff have kept us updated on how he's going and by all reports he's going well, so we hope he's back with us shortly.

"Hopefully he'll be his normal self when he does come back."
