Allardyce hails super display

Sam Allardyce hailed his side's "super performance" after ten-man Blackburn beat Aston Villa 2-1 to climb out of the Premier League drop-zone. Rovers went behind in the third minute when Gabriel Agbonlahor slotted home a James Milner flick-on. Allardyce's side then equalised via Christopher Samba in the 24th minute before their task was made harder when Vince Grella was sent-off for a second bookable offence in the 68th minute. But the home side plugged on and won it with an 89th minute David Dunn penalty after Franco Di Santo's shot hit Richard Dunne's raised arm. Allardyce was highly delighted to win, telling Sky Sports: "We have outplayed them. Just rewards"In the end we have gone down to ten men at 1-1 and where I'd have been more than happy with a point, the lads weren't today and got their just rewards with a penalty and Dunny comes up and puts it away. "A well deserved victory, one that we definitely deserved and a super performance against all the odds." He said Grella's sending-off was justified, believing it was two bookable offences, but he thought the "overall pan-out of the set-plays I thought was against us to say the least but it hasn't affected the result I'm glad to say. "We've come storming back and won a game against a very good side with ten men and that shows that we're on the right track and this is a massive three points for us." Allardyce concluded: "This is not a lucky result, this is not one which we haven't deserved, we have deserved this victory to say the least. "Like I said from all the elements - going 1-0 down in the first few minutes and then going down to ten men at 1-1, this is one hell of a victory."
