Allardyce hails Hoilett

Blackburn boss Sam Allardyce has high hopes for youngster David Hoilett after he scored his first goal for the club in the 3-1 Carling Cup win at Gillingham. The Canadian, 19, was making only his second senior appearance for the club but impressed at Priestfield and rounded off the performance with a diving header a minute into the second half. After the game, Allardyce revealed it had been a long process to finally get him to play for the club. Hoilett has been with Rovers since the age of 12 only for work permit issues to hold him back until this season. But finally, after two years on loan in Germany, he is able to take to the field. "I think he is a good little prospect," said Allardyce. "He's a lad we've had for a long time, many years, we've been patient about him and here we saw a lot of promise and ability from him in flashes. "He appeared on a few days last year in between playing in St Pauli in Germany. Just seeing him train was enough in a few days for us to know that he's a bit of a talent at this age."
