Allardyce hails Benjani swoop

Blackburn boss Sam Allardyce is confident new signing Benjani Mwaruwari's experience will prove to be a valuable asset. The 32-year-old Zimbabwean signed a one-year contract at Ewood Park last month after training with the club following his release by Manchester City at the end of last season.Benjani, who could make his debut against his former club at Eastlands, has spent the last four and a half years in the Premier League having initially joined Portsmouth from Auxerre in January 2006.Allardyce said: "The lad's trained exceedingly hard and tried to get himself as fit as he could. Then he played at Arsenal in the reserves this week and scored."It's a good indication of us not giving up on the lad and hopefully giving him the right support to make sure he can turn out on the field as often as possible because he's a very experienced frontman to go with two inexperienced frontmen in Nikola Kalinic and Mame Diouf."
