Allardyce - Dunn is key man
Sam Allardyce is backing David Dunn to fire Blackburn up the table after blossoming in his new position. The Rovers boss has likened the midfielder's role to that of Steven Gerrard's at Liverpool and believes the 29-year-old can play a big role in shaping Blackburn's season. The former Birmingham man's talent has never been in doubt but it his inability to stay fit for a prolonged period that has been his downfall throughout his career. However Dunn has flourished in his new role behind a lone frontman at Ewood Park this term and scored his second goal in three Premier League games in the 3-1 win over Wolves on Saturday. "David's skill and talent is what we need on a weekly basis," Allardyce said. "I think we've found a position for him that will cause a lot of problems. We have four strikers with David taking up a Steven Gerrard role. "David has blossomed into one hell of a creative player with two goals from three games. "He's opening up defences. The flair players like David and (El-Hadji) Diouf make a big difference when they use their skills in the right areas."
