Williams leads tributes to Clayton

lackburn chairman John Williams has paid tribute to Rovers legend and former England captain Ronnie Clayton who has died at the age of 76.[LNB] Blackburn, who he also captained, announced his death today and are planning to pay their respects prior to tomorrow's Premier League home match against Chelsea.[LNB]Williams said: "Everyone at Ewood Park is deeply saddened by the news.[LNB]"Ronnie was not only a wonderful servant and ambassador for the club, he was also one of the most popular men ever to be associated with Rovers.[LNB]"No-one had a bad word for Ronnie and he will be so very sadly missed. Our deepest sympathies go out to his dear wife Val and all his family at this saddest of times."[LNB]Clayton, who played at right-half, spent his entire club career with Blackburn and won 35 caps for England from 1955 to 1960.[LNB]He was a member of the 1958 World Cup squad, playing one match in the tournament.[LNB]
