Robert Green is being braced for a hot reception from Barclays Premier League fans following his World Cup blunder - but he's not the first to be made a scapegoat for England's woes.[LNB]A vocal minority aren't prepared to forget how Green let in Clint Dempsey's tame shot in England's opening 1-1 draw against the United States at South Africa 2010.[LNB] Nightmare: Green gifts USA their equaliser at the World Cup finals[LNB][LNB] [LNB]The WestHam keeper has already been booed in pre-season and - as Sportsmail exclusively revealed - he has asked pals to taunt him in training in preparation for the barrage of abuse he could receive this season.[LNB][LNB]DAN RIPLEY takes a look back at how England's previous flops were targeted by fans...[LNB] Seeing red: Referee Kim Nielsen gives Beckham his marching orders[LNB] David Beckham - World Cup 98Going into the World Cup the whole country was behind David Beckham and backing him to feature from the start. The only problem was England manager Glenn Hoddle didn't agree and opted to start Spurs man Darren Anderton instead.[LNB]But with England in danger of exiting the tournament, Beckham was selected to start the final group match against Colombia and scored a vital free-kick that effectively cemented his starting place for the next match against Argentina.[LNB]Despite setting up Michael Owen's 'wonder goal' Beckham will always be remembered for his act of stupidity in kicking out at Diego Simeone and earning himself a straight red after 47 minutes.[LNB]England were to go out on penalties and Beckham was greeted to hostile booing and chants at nearly every ground he visited for the next season.[LNB] Down and out: Neville gives away the penalty that would eliminate England from Euro 2000[LNB] Phil Neville - Euro 2000After capitulating against Portugal in their opening game and then beating Germany for the first time at a major tournament since 1966, England went in to their final group game against Romania off the back of indifferent form.[LNB]Nevertheless, England only needed a draw against Romania to proceed to the quarter-finals and were on course when, as the game entered the dying minutes, England were holding on to a 2-2 draw.[LNB]That was until Neville recklessly lunged at Viorel Moldovan inside the box, leading to a penalty kick and England losing 3-2 and on their way out of the tournament. England fans made sure Neville knew who they blamed over the next few months.[LNB]Frank Lampard - World Cup 2006England's 'Golden Generation'were fancied to go far in Germany and, despite winning three out oftheir first four and remaining undefeated, they came in for strongcriticism from fans who felt the team were not giving their all.[LNB]FrankLampard in particular received much of the abuse and, after being namedEngland fans' player of the year in 2004 and 2005, his fall from grace withinthe space of four games was remarkable.[LNB]It would get worse forthe Chelsea midfielder after he missed the first penalty in thequarter-final shootout defeat by Portugal that ended a miserable WorldCup for himself.[LNB]England fans then booed Lampard at PremierLeague grounds and future England internationals out of frustrationthat he was not giving the same peformances for his country that he waswith Chelsea.[LNB] Bad times: Lampard's missed penalty summed up the Chelsea midfielder's 2006 World Cup[LNB]Ashley Cole and John Terry - Pre-World Cup 2010Maybe not  flops as such, but they received a fair amount of stick from England fans for different reasons in the run up to the World Cup.[LNB]Ashley Cole was booed from large sections of the Wembley crowd after his mistake led to Kazakhstan pegging England back to 2-1 in a World Cup qualifier.[LNB]While John Terry had the England v Egypt Wembley crowd split with sections of the crowd jeering all his touches early on after revelations that he had an affair with the ex-girlfriend of Wayne Bridge.[LNB]Paul Robinson and Scot Carson - Euro 2008 QualifiersRobertGreen can take comfort knowing he is not the first England goalkeeperto take some flak from fans - with howlers by Paul Robinson and Scott Carsonleading towards the embarrassment of failing to qualify for Euro 2008.[LNB]Robinson'sinternational career has never recovered from the moment in Zagreb when a Gary Neville back-pass hit a bobble and rolled over his foot into the net. Croatia won the game 2-0 and England failed to make Euro 2008.[LNB] Croatia woe: Both Robinson and Carson made goalkeeping howlers that led to England missing out at Euro 2008[LNB] [LNB]Throughout the next fewmonths, Robinson was jeered by fans and, after another error against Russia in a critical qualifier, he was dropped for the crucial return match against Croatia.[LNB]But after only a few minutes, and ona wet and terrible Wembley pitch, his replacement Scott Carson let a speculative 30-yard effort from Niko Kranjcar go straight through him. It put England on course for a 3-2 defeat and a summer at home[LNB]PS the ones that got away with it!David Batty - World Cup 98Despite having never taken a penalty in his life and only ever side-footing everything, Batty stepped up for the deciding spot kick against Argentina with a predictable result.[LNB] Luckily for Batty, Paul Ince had missed as well, and the country's anger was fully directed at the sent-off Beckham (see above).[LNB] Use your laces! Batty's penalty was save by Argentina keeper Carlos Roa[LNB] Wayne Rooney - World Cup 2006In circumstances strikingly similar to that of David Beckham in World Cup '98, Rooney was sent off in the quarter-final against Portugal after stamping on Ricardo Carvalho.[LNB] But fans across the world were quick to notice Cristiano Ronaldo winking at his coaches and players on the bench moments afterwards and the English public directed their hate towards the little winker and his apparent dirty tricks campaign to get the England striker sent off.[LNB] Tough glove!
