Motherwell are confident Steve Jennings will pen a new deal and are closing in on a move for Blackburn defender Gavin Gunning.[LNB] Jennings is currently out of contract after allowing his previous agreement at Fir Park to run down and, as a free agent, he has attracted interest from Aberdeen and Hearts.[LNB]No switch has been sealed, though, and he will report back for pre-season training with Well on Tuesday.[LNB]They hope they can convince the 26-year-old to commit to them once more, with fresh terms already on the table.[LNB]Assistant manager Kenny Black told the Daily Record: "We've obviously lost John Sutton and brought in Michael Higdon.[LNB]"But over the next couple of days we hope to get a few things tied up.[LNB]"We are hopeful Steve will sign his contract and we can get it formally announced over the next couple of days."[LNB]Well are also planning to bring Blackburn defender Gunning back to the club, following a successful loan spell last season, and transfer talks have been opened with Rovers.[LNB]Black added: "Gavin has a year left on his contract at Blackburn and there is interest from other clubs. But we're in talks and would love to get him here.[LNB]"If we can get those two in that would be a boost. But we won't be able to bring in many more as we will be going with a tight squad."
