Villa agree fee for Dunne, sign Warnock

Aston Villa have agreed a fee with Premier League rivals Manchester City for defender Richard Dunne and have signed Stephen Warnock from Blackburn Rovers. The 29-year-old City skipper and Ireland international Dunne will travel to Villa to discuss personal terms and undergo a medical, the club said on their website (www.avfc.co.uk). Dunne has made nearly 300 league appearances for City since arriving in 2000 from Everton. The recent signings of Joleon Lescott from Everton and Kolo Toure from Arsenal had cast doubt on his future at Eastlands. Villa have also brought in left back Warnock, 27, on a four-year deal for an undisclosed fee from Blackburn. Martin O'Neill has moved quickly to strengthen his defence after losing centre back Martin Laursen to retirement, while left back Wilfred Bouma has a long-term injury.
