According to this morning's Daily Mirror[LNB]Spurs manager Harry Redknapp has been given the green light to make the huge bid for Santa Cruz, who was widely expected to join Manchester City this month. [LNB]Sam Allardyce, the Blackburn manager, has been unwilling to let Santa Cruz leave Ewood Park without lining up a replacement. But Redknapp has a number of players – Darren Bent and Jermaine Jenas among them – that he is prepared to let go, making a cash-plus-player deal for Santa Cruz a possibility. [LNB]Speaking after the 3-1 victory over Stoke at White Hart Lane which lifted Spurs away from the relegation places, Redknapp said he was trying to bring one more major signing before Monday. [LNB]Brazilian striker Fred was among those linked with Spurs. Redknapp had claimed the Lyon forward failed to show up to a meeting in London, but his camp have now angrily denied those claims, branding Redknapp a 'liar'. [LNB]Fred's agent and brother Rodrigo said: "What Redknapp said is a lie, Fred never said he would come to a meeting. [LNB]"Redknapp said he would come to see us in France on Sunday but he did not come. [LNB]'Then everything changed, they suddenly wanted us to come to London on Monday. But here they would pressure him. [LNB]"He wanted to come to Tottenham but they let us down so he will not be joining them. It's as simple as that."[LNB]
