Tottenham are reported to be close to agreeing a £6m deal to sign Djibril Cisse from Marseille. The 27-year-old France striker spent last season on loan at Sunderland but has been told he is no longer required there despite topping their goalscoring charts with ten in the Premier League. Spurs manager Harry Redknapp is ready to snap up Cisse, who who has made it clear he does not want to see out the remaining two years of his contract in France - and reports in the Guardian suggest he will part fund the deal by selling off White Hart Lane flops Darren Bent and Roman Pavlyuchenko. Cisse wants to stay in the Premier League and has also attracted the interest of Fulham and Blackburn Rovers but Marseille will insist on recouping most of the £6m they paid Liverpool for him in 2007.
