Real Madrid legend Raul is poised to say farewell to the Bernabeu this summer with Tottenham keen to welcome him to the Premier League.

Interest is high on the Continent for the former Spain striker's services but the 33-year-old is thought to favour a switch to London putting Spurs in the box-seat.

Raul reportedly rejected a move to join Steve McClaren's Wolfsburg last month as he wants to close out his illustrious career in England.

And although he hasn't been given the official green light from Madrid, the player's agent Barry O'Connor has been instructed to find the forward the move he desires.

'With a player of this pedigree there is always a lot of interest butnothing will happen until Real Madrid give the official go-ahead thathe can leave,' said O'Connor.

Blackburn and and newly-promoted Newcastle are among a host of suitors for the forward who scored seven goals in 39 appearances last season, and will offer guaranteed first team football - unlike Spurs.

But White Hart Lane boss Harry Redknapp is accustomed to bringing the best out of big stars entering in their twilight years and with Champions League football to contend this season he is said to be on the hunt for players with experience.

Raul, Spain's all-time top scorer with 44 goals from 102 caps, certainly boasts that on his cv with three Champions League winners' medals sitting in his trophy cabinet.

A move to north London for Raul would almost certainly spell the end of Robbie Keane's second stint at Spurs, with Aston Villa and Fulham among his admirers.
