Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp is planning to solve his defensive problems and snap up Blackburn's Christopher Samba for £10million. With Redknapp's three centre-backs ruled out for the start of the Premier League season, the Spurs boss has turned to Congo star Samba. The 25-year-old has impressed in his time with Blackburn, having joined the Lancashire club from Hertha Berlin in 2007. Blackburn boss Sam Allardyce will not want to lose the player, but the club could not afford to turn down such a bid from Tottenham. If he does resign Tottenham supporters will be breathing a sigh of relief, with the club's defensive problems threatening to escalate into a crisis. Jonathan Woodgate needs surgery on a groin injury, Michael Dawson issidelined until next month with Achilles trouble and Ledley King hasmissed most of pre-season with his long-standing knee problem. Redknapp seems certain to be out of luck with his attempts to sign Real Madrid winger Arjen Robben, with the former Chelsea star insisting he will only join a club who are in the Champions League. Robben was linked with a move to north London, especially after the arrival of Cristiano Ronaldo and Kaka seemed to push him down the pecking order at Real. But Robben said: 'With all the respect in the world, I have decided not to join Tottenham. 'I hope to achieve a lot with Real Madrid. The only thing I would consider is a move to another club in the Champions League.'
