The Tipster - Blackburn win could give Allardyce West Ham chance

As predicted, Newcastle went out and 'did it for Chris' last weekend. Will Blackburn do likewise for Big Sam this Saturday?

Rovers face West Ham at Ewood Park in their first game since Sam Allardyce's unceremonious booting by a bunch of clueless chicken factory owners. As with Chris Hughton's sudden exit from Newcastle, the only people who can comprehend Allardyce's dismissal are those who actually pulled the trigger.

And just like the loony holding the gun at St James' Park, Rovers'new owners have given no indication whatsoever that they know what they are doing.

Sacking Allardyce was an odd decision on many levels - too many to go into here - but where does that leave the team heading into Saturday's clash with West Ham?

Under normal circumstances, a passion-filled, up-and-at-'em performance, like the one we saw from Newcastle against Liverpool last weekend, would be expected. But considering the players are still waiting to hear who their new boss will be (assistant Steve Kean will take charge in the meantime), it's going to be more difficult for Rovers to lift themselves out of their post-Big Sam blues. And, given the identity of the opposition, their task will be even harder.

Bottom club West Ham are in trouble. Real trouble. So much so that Avram Grant's side are now playing for his future with every appearance. The axe may even fall on him with defeat at Ewood.

That's not to say West Ham are looking good to win in Lancashire: they haven't won any of their last 26 Premier League away games. Bearing that in mind, it's no surprise that Blackburn are favourites to come away with all three points, but given the stakes for West Ham, a draw (11-4 with William Hill) looks to be a decent bet.

After all, this pair's last three meetings have ended in stalemate, with the last two being goalless. Victor Chandler have another 0-0 draw at an interesting 11-1.

Ironically, if Grant fails to appease West Ham's owners at Ewood to become the third top flight managerial casualty of the season, Allardyce could well get an immediate return to top flight management.

As for Blackburn's next permanent manager, amazingly Kean is the current favourite at 9-4 with Stan James. That despite Rovers' owners stating they are waiting for an "outstanding" candidate for the job.

Kean has a couple of months to prove himself; if in that time he can't propel Rovers towards "fourth of fifth" in the league - where the owners expect the club to be - Martin O'Neill looks a good bet to take over at 10-1 with William Hill.
