Roque Santa Cruz makes the Manchester City squad for the first time tonight when Mark Hughes's side face West Ham at Eastlands.

The Paraguay striker has been sidelined with a knee injury since his £17million summer move from Blackburn.

Worth the wait: City fans hope to get their first look at Roque Santa Cruz against West Ham

Hughes said: 'It's good to see him on the training ground, playing in games and looking in good nick.

'We could have brought him back sooner but, given the fact we have good options, we didn't need to rush him back.

'I like what he gives. He is a big guy, his physical presence is important for us and he is quick, strong, brave and good in the air.

'He makes people sit up and take notice.'
