Samba Return Hold-Up

Rovers manager Steve Kean has said that although defender Chris Samba has no tear in his hamstring, he still will not be ready for Monday's reserve game.

Kean had been hoping to get Samba back in action as soon as he could and earmarked the reserve clash as his comeback game.

Although Samba wanted to leave the club in the transfer window, Kean always said that he would be staying and resisted bids from Queens Park Rangers.

Samba failed to play in a behind closed doors game against Carlisle last Tuesday with Kean hoping he would be able to feature in the reserve clash against Wigan at Leigh Sports Village.

But Kean says that Samba will be back for the game against Manchester City on the 25th of this month.

"I don't think he'll play in the reserve game,"Kean said in the Lancashire Telegraph.

"But he's got the all clear on an MRI scan, which is the more detailed one that tells us there's no tear in his hamstring, so he'll be back in full training and will crack on from there."
