Salgado hits out at 'rubbish' Raul talk

Blackburn need to stop being distracted by trying to sign the likes of Raul and focus on winning games, according to Michel Salgado. The former Real Madrid defender has spoken out following a poor start to the new Premier League campaign in which Steve Kean's men have lost their opening two games to Wolves and Aston Villa amidst speculation linking them with an ambitious swoop for Schalke's Raul.

And, Salgado, who played alongside Raul at the Bernabeu, feels the club's owners Venky's are side-tracking Kean with their transfer plans and he just wants players in 'who are committed to the team and the club' so they can fully concentrate on matters on the pitch.

On the possibility of Vedad Ibisevic and Simon Vukcevic joining ahead of the August 31 deadline, Salgado said: "If we are focused we can turn things around easily and if we know who's going to be playing with us."We are talking about new signings and rubbish like that but we need to focus in the games because the Premier League is too demanding and too tight.

"You can see every year it becomes even tighter so you have to be focused in any game.

"We're days away from the window closing and we don't know if new signings are coming or if any other players are leaving. That's very difficult. We need to know that as soon as possible.

"It's very difficult for the manager to work like that and we need to help him."I hope we see a different Blackburn in September."
