// A bit of a hack but it works// The article snippet is wrapped onto a second line, even when #article-sub is emptyif( $("div#article-sub").children().length == 0 ) {$("div#article-sub").remove();} Michel Salgado has expressed his excitement at the prospect of playing in England as he nears a move to Blackburn Rovers.

The experienced defender was released by Real Madrid earlier this month after ten years at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Salgado has been mulling over a number of options since Sam Allardyce confirmed his interest last week.

But it has now been reported in Spain that Salgado has accepted an offer from Blackburn and the 33-year-old says he is happy to be on his way to the Premier League.

"This was the most interesting proposition in terms of sport, I have always wanted to play in England," Salgado is quoted as saying in the Spanish press.

It is understood that Real Zaragoza were also keen to bring in Salgado, while he attracted some attention in the Middle East as well.
