Salgado delighted at Blackburn bow

The veteran full-back recently completed a free transfer move to Blackburn following his release by Real Madrid, where he had spent more than a decade. Salgado was introduced as a late substitute by Sam Allardyce in Rovers' 3-1 win over Wolves on Saturday and he enjoyed his brief cameo. The Spaniard believes he is quickly settling into life at Ewood Park and is confident Blackburn have the ability to climb up the table. "I'm 33, but I felt like a kid again," said Salgado. "To finally play in one of the best leagues in the world is a big day for me. ''It's normal that I had to wait for my first appearance. I expected to have to do that. I arrived late and the manager has given me time to settle in. "At Real Madrid there is more competition, but here you have to be fit and 100% always. "The players are helping me to settle in. Maybe they've seen me play for Real Madrid, but now I'm one of them. "They are always playing jokes on me, but I get respect because they know I am the oldest man in the dressing room!" He added: "There's very good quality in the squad. There's a big difference between the top six and the rest, but there's no reason why we can't fight for seventh place."
