Rovers return: Blackburn's Allardyce hands four-year deal to loan star Givet

Blackburn have unveiled Gael Givet as their latest summer signing. The Marseille defender spent the second half of last season on loan at Ewood Park and has now turned it into a permanent move. The 27-year-old Frenchman has agreed a four-year deal after a string of impressive performances. Givet was initially brought in by Sam Allardyce in mid-January, justover a month after the former Bolton and Newcastle boss replaced Paul Ince. The former France international's versatility, beingable to play at left-back and centre-half, gives Allardyce options in asmall squad. Rovers have also signed Elrio van Heerden on afree transfer from Club Brugge,while rookie keeper Nikos Giannakopoulosarrived from Asteras Tripolis.
