Rovers ready to make Dindane decision

Sam Allardyce reckons Blackburn would be comfortably in the the top 10 with a regular goalscorer - and will decide this week on Aruna Dindane.[LNB] A goalless draw at Portsmouth on Saturday highlighted Blackburn's failings in front of goal once again, as they failed to breach an injury-ravaged home defence.[LNB]Allardyce has been impressed with his current team's resilience at the back but believes they would be higher than 11th in the Premier League table with just one more player.[LNB]He said: "The clean sheets are obviously the basis for any good season. The team that wins the league has the most clean sheets. It's not the one who scores the most goals.[LNB]"That's always your first priority because with our deficiencies in front of goal, we find ourselves just below the top half.[LNB]"We've put a really exciting young side together, which is going to grow hopefully.[LNB]"Our only deficiency is goalscoring ability and we needed more - not just from the strikers but the team as a whole.[LNB]"(David) Dunn is our leading scorer (with eight in the Premier League). But someone should have stepped up to the plate and scored more and if they had done that, we would have been comfortable in the top half.[LNB]"We've got to try to push on, but the season has been very satisfying in terms of progress made."[LNB]Dindane has been frozen out at Fratton Park as cash-strapped Portsmouth are unable to pay Lyon the £4 million they would be owed if he plays another game on loan for the club.[LNB]Rovers could sign Dindane and then loan him back to Portsmouth to finish the campaign, or they could take him now and wait until next season before seeing him play.[LNB]Allardyce said: "I would expect we will try to give a decision early next week.[LNB]"We want to see whether we can secure the transfer first and foremost and we'll see where we go from there."[LNB]Portsmouth boss Avram Grant remains "proud" of his side, despite their imminent relegation to the Championship.[LNB]They have not been relegated yet, but Grant knows it is a matter of when rather than if they go down.[LNB]He is only sad the nine-point deduction imposed after the club entered administration did not give his team the chance to fight for their top-flight place until the end of the season.[LNB]The Israeli said: "We are not mathematicians. We knew what was happening off the pitch, but we've tried to do our job on the pitch.[LNB]"It doesn't matter whether it (relegation) happens this week or next week. I'm only sorry they didn't give us the chance to fight until the last moment.[LNB]"We are fighting and we are fighting, and I don't care when it happens.[LNB]"I'm just very, very proud of this team. There have been other teams down at the bottom with no problems in the last 10 or 20 years.[LNB]"If you compare them to us in terms of fighting spirit or any aspect of the football, I think I can be very proud."
