Rovers in for de la Pena

Blackburn are in the hunt to land Spanish star Ivan de la Pena, according to his agent. The 33-year-old midfielder has rejuvenated his career at Espanyol after joining the club in 2002. De la Pena is out-of-contract this summer and wants to stay with the Barcelona outfit, but they look unlikely to offer him the terms he wants. Now a number of clubs, including Blackburn, want to take him. "I am dealing with some very important offers for Ivan, one of them from Blackburn," his agent Manuel Ferrer is quoted in the Daily Star. "There have also been bids from Spartak Moscow, from Greece and the UAE. "Ivan wants to be the best paid player at Espanyol, this recognise his ability but his salary does not reflect this." Blackburn have also been strongly linked with a move for Borussia Dortmund's highly-rated Egyptian star Mohamed Zidan. But he insists that he is more than happy in Germany. "I have already signed a contract for four years and I have three years left of that contract, so I still have time to make it at this team and the club," he said. "And I don't think I would make the decision to leave Borussia Dortmund. "I am very happy being a member of the team."
