Blackburn are back on the trail of Austria striker Marc Janko after being encouraged by a fresh enquiry from Manchester City for Roque Santa Cruz. Blackburn scout Brian Talbot watched Janko in action against Serbia on Saturday and came away impressed. But 6ft 5in Janko's club Red Bull Salzburg want around £7million and that can only be done if Santa Cruz departs, with Blackburn working on a shoestring budget. City have other targets with Manchester United striker Carlos Tevez expected to join when he returns from World Cup duty with Argentina this week and an offer on the table for Wolfsburg's Edin Dzeko. Santa Cruz fits the profile that City boss Mark Hughes wants with Premier League experience. But Hughes has reservations about his fitness and whether he represents value for money. Arsenal and Tottenham have also enquired but the Paraguay star wants to go to Cityand Blackburn know City will give a better price. Rovers boss Sam Allardyce is frustrated at budget restraints and is considering moves for Newcastle's Alan Smith, Paris Saint-Germain's Jerome Rothen and France youth midfielder Steven Nzonzi from Amiens.
