The Scot has been out of the game since being sacked by Aston Villa in the summer after a season in which the club narrowly avoided Premier League relegation. But McLeish has previously done well in management after guiding Birmingham City to promotion to the Premier League and winning the League Cup.
He has also enjoyed successful spells with Rangers and Scotland and that pedigree has seen him linked with Blackburn, according to Sky Sports.
