Roque blow for Rovers

Blackburn were dealt another blow to their Premier League survival campaign when Roque Santa Cruz underwent surgery on his knee. The 27-year-old, who has been out of action since the beginning of March, had the operation in a bid to eradicate a persistent problem. Although it is unknown how long he will be out of action, the news is still a blow to Rovers, who sit just four points above the drop zone. Hopeful his star striker will make a swift recovery, boss Sam Allardyce conceded that surgery was a must for the Paraguayan international. "He's had a little arthroscopy to clean out floating fragment in the knee," he explained. "I'm not putting a time limit on his return but hopefully it won't be long."
