Ronaldo rejected sensational Spurs and Blackburn moves to stay in Brazil

Brazil legend Ronaldo reportedly turned down moves to Tottenham and Blackburn before the summer transfer window slammed shut. The former Barcelona, Real Madrid, Inter and AC Milan striker was subject to last-minute offers from Harry Redknapp and Sam Allardyce but rejected the move to remain in Brazil with his girlfriend Maria Antony, who is rumoured to be pregnant, according to reports in the Brazilian media. The 32-year-old striker, who is currently playing for Brazilian side Corinthians, was targeted by both managers as they looked to strengthen their attacking options. Ruud Van Nistelrooy and Benjani were also believed to be on their shopping lists but, in terms of headlines, the capture of Ronaldo would have eclipsed either of those moves.  The three-times World Player of the year is thought to have committed his future to the Corinthians where he has a bumper salary package - part paid by sponsors, and he gets 80 per cent of sponsorship sold on his kit and a cut of other merchandising. Ronaldo could potentially have earned more by moving to the Premier League but his contract in Brazil runs out in December, so he could reconsider the move when the transfer window opens in January.
