Robinson delighted with first clean sheet

Blackburn goalkeeper Paul Robinson is relieved to have finally kept his first clean sheet of the season and believes Rovers must take advantage of their growing confidence.

The 2-0 win at fellow strugglers Wolves last time out was vital in their battle against relegation but was also significant for being the first time since April that Rovers had prevented their opponents scoring. Robinson admits it was a statistic which was starting to weigh heavily, but now they need to continue the good work which has seen them collect four points from two games.

"On a personal level the clean sheet was very important, you don't want records like that against you," Robinson said ahead of Tuesday night's Barclays Premier League clash with Sunderland at Ewood Park.

"It had been going a long time and it is something you think about as a goalkeeper as you pride yourself and get judged on clean sheets. So to get the clean sheet as well as the performance and the win was good, it was a good weekend all round.

"We seem to be hitting form just at the right time.

"We are obviously in a precarious position, one that we wouldn't want to be in, but the way the games have fallen for us and the way our form is at the moment, we seem to be picking up results at the right time.

"It is going to be a very important week for us and hopefully it can continue.

"We've got two very winnable games coming up (they are scheduled to visit Bolton at the weekend) and we'll be looking to get six points.

"Six points at this stage of the season, given the position we are in, would be a massive achievement.

"There are five teams down there at the moment and it looks like it'll be three from five. We are sitting at the top of the five and we've got to make sure that it stays that way."
