Robbie Savage has attacked a BBC presenter after objecting to questions during a TV interview.

Savage, 34, was being interviewed by Match of the Day commentator Ian Gwyn Hughes when he suddenly pounced.

But the cameras were still rolling and former Blackburn and Wales star Savage was captured on top of Hughes.

Savage jabbed and prodded BBC Wales football editor Hughes, repeatedly asking him: 'Who's the best player?'  And he only let go when the commentator meekly answered, 'You are Sav'.

The veteran broadcaster had been quizzing Savage about his fall-out with Wales manager John Toshack.

Hughes said: 'He wasn't happy because I said he threw his toys out of the pram over Toshack.'

Derby County midfielder Savage was later seen shaking hands with Hughes and smiling after the incident, which the BBC have dismissed as a joke.

Savage was once suspended from playing for Wales after throwing a shirt from Italy captain Paolo Maldini into a rubbish bin.

He was also fined £10,000 for using a referee's toilet ahead of a Premier League match when playing for Leicester.
