Rhodes integral to Rovers' future

Blackburn FanZoner Anna-Louise Adams is hopeful Jordan Rhodes will stay with the club next season, and fears for life without him. The £8 million former Huddersfield striker demonstrated, yet again, why he is worth the amount of money the club forked out for him. 1-0 down to Crystal Palace, Jordan Rhodes was once again our saviour, netting the equaliser with a stunning goal just three minutes before half time. The season has been a lengthy, convoluted and frankly depressing for Rovers fans. The prelude of the 2012/13 campaign saw us as favourites for promotion; come the end of the season, and fans were elated knowing their place in the Championship next season is pretty much fortified after successive relegations beckoned. Rhodes' unrelenting scoring continues to safeguard the club, having scored goals in the preceding three victorious games (Millwall, Huddersfield, and Derby.) It begs the question - where would Rovers be without the 27 goals he has scored with ease this season? The answer - probably a lot closer to League 1. The Scottish international is yet to taste Premier League football, but the fans and club are expecting widespread interest for the young striker despite having only been at the club for one season. Understandably, it is expected that he should experience top flight football, but it is difficult to comprehend that to would be without Rovers. Modesty, humbleness and good nature are just three characteristics of the young man, who has proven himself to be not only a gifted footballer but a role model for youth. Fans would be overjoyed if the Scot opted to stay at the Lancashire club as next season he is sure to remain Rovers' biggest threat if they are to achieve promotion. Rumours have surfaced suggesting that when asked by a fan post match if he will be staying next season, Rhodes responded by saying: "If they'll have me." There may be no truth in the alleged conversation, but if there is any, it reinforces the true likeableness he has so often demonstrated. By Anna-Louise Adams, FanZone's Blackburn blogger.
